Many schools limit access to the internet.
In November 2016 we moved the SWIS Suite to a new server with a new IP address. For some schools, this meant their access to SWIS was blocked by their I.T. department.
In allowing for access to the SWIS Suite web application, it has come to our attention that some I.T. departments added our server IP address for the SWIS suite to their whitelist of allowed websites. Since the IP address changed when we moved the SWIS Suite to a new server, these schools were no longer able to access their accounts.
In general, best practice is not to whitelist any PBISApps web application by IP address since these addresses are subject to change. Instead, I.T. departments should use the domain names of the applications. This ensures future compatibility and limits issues when you use our applications.
To resolve the issue:
- Contact your local or district I.T. person.
- Have them update their whitelist with *.swis.org (the wildcard is important).
- If they can only use IP addresses on their whitelist, the new SWIS Suite IP address is 128.223.103.95
